Millésimé 2008
An exceptional champagne made with patience and skill.
Personality
For lovers of rich and complex champagnes.
At Champagne Duménil we have specialised in vintage champagnes for many years, but we only produce them in the very best years which display outstanding ageing potential.
Some of the very old vintages in our private cellar are still bright and lively, a testament to the extreme care and attention we bring to all vintage champagnes from the House of Duménil.
The 2008 vintage was especially memorable for us. We began the harvest by picking the Chardonnay, something that is almost unheard of, but the tiny yields meant that Chardonnay was very advanced. The juice was incredibly rich and concentrated yet still retained excellent acidity.
The dominant proportion of Chardonnay in all Duménil vintage champagnes gives them almost eternal youth.
Tasting Notes
Tiny, elegant bubbles against a sparkling golden background.
On the nose : Quince and prunes, very expressive
On the palate : Toasted hazelnuts. Silky and vinous with a distinct mineral quality on a very long finish.
Food Matching
This vintage champagne can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with an entrée. It’s wonderful with pan-fried foie gras and its full character
makes it an ideal partner for red meat and game.
As a special treat serve at the end of the meal with a tart of caramelised pears.
Serving Moments
A champagne worthy of important meetings, celebrations and fine dining .
Serving Suggestion
Slowly chill the bottle in an ice-bucket, and serve at 10° C (50° F)
